Saturday, March 29, 2008, 11:26:25 PM- Update
She was still suffering from hives this morning and a new developement was swelling in her extremities (hands and feet). I decided not to wait till Mon to make an appt with our GP and took her to urgent care this afternoon. The gist of the visit was that an allergy to the cold is a very real possibility given that she hasn't taken any meds at all in the last few months and that her diet is restricted to what I cook at home. She has been given meds to combat the high alert her body is on. She is not to eat or put near her face anything cold. She must wear warm clothes including light gloves or mitts when outside even if it warms up to a balmy 10c. She is NOT allowed to go swimming or be in any water less than 85f. It is going to take at least 2 weeks for her body to stop realeasing the histamines that are causing her hives, swelling etc. She is very, understandably, frustrated about being allergic to cold suddenly. My water baby has been beached. I hope we can get this under control soon so she can have a somewhat normal life again. First thing Monday morning I will be on the phone to my GP, second thing I will be on the phone to social services who in all their wisdom do NOT cover any of the meds she needs. ju, in mommy mode big time.

Friday, March 28, 2008, 8:57:31 PM- If it isn't one thing
it's another. Last night the kids were out playing, hockey, basketball, soccer etc. It is still chilly out only a degree or 2 above 0 but they were happy running around in sweats rather than winter coats. (you know you are Canadian and its been a long winter when...) When they came in my daughter was complaining about bug bites on her arms. It is still too early for bugs. Within seconds those "bug bites" became a full blown case of hives covering her arms and legs. I gave her tons of benedryl and warm clothes and within an hour she was fine. Keep in mind this is the kid that is allergic to almost every antibiotic known to man and is the one that went into anaphalactic shock last June after eating a piece of kiwi, which she had had many times before. This afternoon she came home again covered in hives. She said every time she went outside and came back in all day the same thing happened. I am thinking she is allergic to the cold. Now before you call me completely insane you have to realize that her father reacts in a similar way to cold water. She just seems to be having a more extreme reaction. Of course the Dr isnt available untill Monday I have benedryl and am not afraid to use it! (it is almost impossible to over do benedryl with a severe allergic reaction) She has an epi pen if she needs that. Wondering how the hell you can live in Canada and deal with an allergy to the cold? I maybe jumping the gun but I have a feeling I am not, ju

A debt paid, a legal obligation fullfilled. I am out from under!! Finally something good in the mail! I got notice today my bankruptcy has been discharged. One standard sized envelope was able to remove a weight I have been carrying around for roughly 2 years. That light at the end of the proverbial tunnel has been taking its sweet time showing itself but it is there and gaining intensity. I think I can, I think I can, ju

Why I haven't been blogging much. Honestly I just haven't had much to say. I could keep bitching about the snow but even I am as sick of hearing about it as I am seeing it. I did however get a package from bng today. It has gotten the creative side of me thinking, designing and planning. I am going to attempt to make something out of vitually nothing. I will take pics as it progresses and hopefully it turns out the way I see it in my minds eye. Off to find some sandpaper, ju bng don't you dare say a word yet!

exhausted last night, I barely made it past 10pm reading, as a result I have been awake off and on since 4 am. Right now I am just waiting for it to get a lil lighter out so I can head to the store and get my day started. Happy spring! Off with a spring in my step, ju

Tuesday, March 18, 2008, 8:33:36 PM- I need to have
guests more often. My parents may come down for easter. That is enough to get me to have a good look around. I started with the walls in the high traffic areas, anyone who has kids knows why walls have to be cleaned. Then the fridge caught my attention. Since it is nearly empty it was a good time to clean that out. On to the microwave. I am not sure what the kids have been cooking in there but I will have to teach them what lids are for. I left the most tedious and strenuous job for last. The kitchen floor. I would KILL for a no wax floor. I have gone over it once with the wax stripper, it is clean but there is still lots of wax on it, ugh. My arm is sore from scrubbing and my ass is sore from getting up and down a billion times. It will do for now. I just need a nice day to get the windows clean and I will be well on my way to having my spring cleaning done ahead of schedule! Tired but pleased with the results, ju
