Saturday, February 22, 2014, 12:22:55 AM- Still on the road.
I am sitting in Los Angeles traffic. Aaaaaaaaaaaaahh LA Traffic. How can I forget it. 7 lanes of pissed off people and then you have me. Singing away, radio blaring, smiling and giggling. What angers the people in traffic are the turtles and snails going faster than they are...lol. How would you like it if a turtle pointed at you and started to laugh? Almost there!

Friday, February 21, 2014, 6:36:07 AM- I am heading out!
No, not leaving NN...lol. I am making a spur of the moment decision to leave in the morning and make the drive to join my sons for my birthday. Yes, it is that time again! As I have stated before, on my birthday I do not accept gifts from my sons. We have this thing in which they ask me to do or try something that they think would make me laugh. At times I have tried things that I discovered that I enjoyed. For instance, one year I went to a University Debate. It was cool and I did find it interesting. I am curious as to what they have in mind this year. I told Sister M that I was heading out and she mentioned that it is finally nice to do stuff without planning things around the kids. I was never a planner when it came to having fun with the boys. They were raised on spontaneity. Oh, there are times when things have to be planned. You plan for doctors appointments, family parties, dinner parties or interviews. When I do things after work or on the weekends, I just get up and go. I was this way when the boys were growing up. We spent a lot of time just heading out looking for fun. The only time we planned fun, was when their Dad would have some days off. We couldn't avoid those types of plans. When my sons got their first cars, they too carried on the tradition of spontaneity. They still head out on a whim when their class schedules allow them to do so. What is in store for me on my birthday? I am intrigued. Which road will I travel during my drive? Who knows! But I can assure you, you're all going with me! Buckle up!

Thursday, February 20, 2014, 6:26:43 AM- The 7 words that irk me.
There is one statement in this world that people will quickly say but won't quickly step up to and answer. "Something needs to be done about it" It doesn't matter what 'It' is, just making that statement and not having an idea or a suggestion to fix 'It' is asinine and lazy. I truly do wonder why adults do not or cannot grasp the concept of "If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem" For the first time in a long time, so long I do not remember, I had to actually tell a coworker to step up or shut up. It didn't bother me that he walked out of the room....lol. In a way, it helped this young man think. He came back a little while later and told me he understood why I said that to him. Oooh yes, that statement gets under my skin.

Wednesday, February 19, 2014, 8:55:21 PM- Disappearing Pens.
The pens that others use to sign reports in front of me, keep disappearing. So I came up with a plan to stock nothing but pens with cartoons tops on them. You know...funny, silly, goofy and what I thought to be embarrassing pens that men would not want to carry around on their uniforms. But noooooooooooooooooo, they liked the Bunny Pens and enjoyed how it brought smiles to those who saw them. They felt it made them look more approachable and kind. The Bunny Pens were disappearing too at a rapid pace! There I was, left with one pen at my desk. Old PensNew Pens This time I changed my tactics and went for a pen that was shorter, fatter and had the tip that resembled a penis with an overly inflated head. Let them try and take my pens now! My reasoning for the new pens. 1. The new pen is too fat to fit into the pen slit on a uniform. 2. In person the tip does look a bit bizarre and appears to look like an inflamed dick....lol 3. A person looking at the pen won't smile and think how cute. They will wonder why a man in uniform is carrying a pen that looks like it needs penicillin. I think the problem may be solved.

Wednesday, February 19, 2014, 6:38:41 AM- A flashback to Junior High.
Sister T called and asked me if I remembered a guy by the name of Naldo. Evidently while at the store, she ran into one of her friends who had his brother with him. When any of us are in the area where we were raised, it is hard NOT to run into an old classmate or two or three or four......lol The younger brother I do remember. I could never forget good ole Naldo. He was the first boy that I had ever asked to a Sadie Hawkins Dance. Naldo weighed about 70 pounds, was a walking stick, he had black hair, one green eye and one brown and 2 large eyebrows that looked like caterpillars. He slumped over when he walked and he had a lisp. But man did I think he was cute! Here's the kicker. I had a lisp and was also overly skinny. But still wasn't cute to him...lol...go figure. Maybe it was my third eye...hahaha When Sis mentioned his name that is when those years in Junior High came back to me. It has been years since I had those memories. Not only did I remember his name and what he looked like, but I remembered him for one important reason. When I got up the nerve to as Naldo to the Sadie Hawkins Dance, he told me that I was ugly and his friends would make fun of him if he went with me. OUCH! Man did I cry! Back then I may not have possessed the looks Naldo wanted. But what I did have was a Dad who reassured me that not all boys are creeps and one day I would have the last laugh and would grow into something wonderful. To the butt headed Naldo's of the world....I say........suck it! You should see me now! All of us have a 'Naldo type' from our days in school.

Monday, February 17, 2014, 5:34:26 AM- A crisp breezy day.
I went for a walk today. There is a beach across the street where the Lion Seals give birth. They can pop any day now. There are people camped out ready with their cameras to catch it all. I would love to watch the birth, but I am not going to sit for days waiting to see them. I will catch them when they are hours or a day old. But I did watch the preggo seals coming out of the water. Everyone laughed at the sight. The preggo seals come out of the water just enough to touch the sand and then turn sideways. They turn sideways because it's easier for them to be pushed and rolled up onto the sand even further. When the wave goes away, they stay where they're at and another wave rolls them even further...lol. It reminded me of preggo humans. I used to roll out of bed or roll on the floor to reach things......hahahaha. So that was part of my day. I walked a bit further and sat on a bench. It's the season for change. The winter is fading and spring is around the corner. The buds are showing on the trees and the winter flowers are now being replaced with the spring blooms. This place has so much beauty and I can honestly say that at times it is hard to choose what to take a picture of. There is a house here that I enjoy looking at. It's rustic and natural. The yard isn't prim and proper & the garden isn't manicured. Wild flowers are abundant and grow free. The fence is distressed and it has soft petals winding it's way over and through the slats. I love the how the old hard wood is mellowed by the flowers. The wooden fence with the blooms on it reminded me of a gift that I had received last Friday. A rose made of teak. This will look good in my rustic living room. I like to combine strength with my feminine decor. It is the best of both worlds and it makes for a comfortable home. My gift was from Guitartxn, the Master Woodsman.

Sunday, February 16, 2014, 7:59:06 AM- Oh come on! It's only 3 words......lol
My eldest son called yesterday to wish me a Happy Valentine Day. I missed the call, so he left a message. I keep listening to the message because I think it's funny. I could tell that he was with a group of people because he was trying to avoid saying those 3 words. Oh no!! Not the 3 words!! The humanity! Message: Hi, Ma. **In a low voice he says** I'm just calling to say Happy Valentine Day......**pause pause pause** and hope that you are having a good day....and....and....well......**pause pause pause** You know, ***an even lower voice*** I ...I love you and all of that.....you know. (Then his voice goes to his regular tone) I will talk to you later. Bye, Ma. Lmao....come on!! The man is 30 years old!! The embarrassment of telling your Mom that you love her should be long gone.

Saturday, February 15, 2014, 6:41:53 AM- What? No standing ovation?
But they did clap....lol Okay, picture this: I am in my truck, on the way home and sitting at a red light. The song on the radio is Guns N' Roses, November Rain. Which by the way, is on my Top 10 list of all time FAVS! On to the clapping. I was singing loud and clear while doing my best air guitar...lol. Yes, I have no shame and will sing no matter who is around. The people in the car next to me began clapping and whistling. The light turns green and we go. At the next light, we meet up again. It seems they too found the song on the station and were singing for all the world to hear. I honked my horn and clapped. Music is contagious! Sing it! Don't be shy. It may get you some looks but it can also make others feel happy. And happiness is also contagious. I used to sing in a choir and go caroling at Christmas time. I guess it has never left me. I got the music in me...lol Like Karen Carpenter wrote in one of her songs: Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear, just sing, sing a song. Admit it, you sang a song today.
