Can you tell what was on my mind this morning?

I do not shy away from an open conversation. I think all of you have figured this out. When I am asked a question I answer it. Today I was asked if I was afraid to love, if know how to love, want be loved or want to fall in love. The answers are: No, Yes, Yes and Yes. I have had serious relationships and was married before and not one of the above emotions of love scared me or were new to me. I can do all of them quite well when the moment arises and want to feel them again before I die. I can assure you that there are a ton of single individuals who would like love back in their lives. I know that I miss everything about being in love and loving. THE MISCONCEPTION: Just because one single person has trouble with love, it doesn't mean all single people lack the ability to feel those deep emotions.

So I turned the conversation on her about misconceptions.
I asked her: Are you in love with your husband?
Her reply was: Of course I love my husband!
Me: No no no....are you "In Love" with your husband?
Me: So all married people are in love?
Her: Yes, they are.

What a young naive little bubble. According to her, being In Love and Loving are one in the same. We went back and forth. So I had to equate what I meant in terms that she would understand. Something that relates to law enforcement!

Okay I said, think of this; A flat head screw driver is a burglars tool, but not everyone who carries a flat head screw driver is a burglar. Therefore every one who is in love, loves....but not every one who loves, is in love.

The light went off in her head....*Bing*

-They are big and you feel safe in them, just in case of an accident.
-You sit higher and you can look down into the cars that are smaller than your truck.
-People move out of your way when they see you coming at them.
-They have tons of power.
-You can put big ole tires on them and look meaner.
-They can go off road and not have to worry about the axle as much as a regular car.
-You can drive through flooded waters easier because the engine is higher.
-They never go out of style and can still look classic even when they are 50 years old.
-You can take them camping or to a drive in and use the bed of the truck as an actual bed.
-I don't have to worry about purchasing large items or a ton of groceries
-And most of all..........Chicks look good in trucks...lol.

The one and only downfall of owning a truck?
Everybody wants to borrow it when they move. Even the people you have not heard from in months and months!
Sister V. is moving to Oregon to be nearer her kids and grand kids. Guess who was called first?

There are furloughs being handed out left and right to the city, state and government workers. We were told that we will be hit with furloughs as well. Losing pay is not going to be easy on anyone. So during a meeting we were told that we need to be aware and prepared to deal with a jump in depression, suicidal ideologies/ideations and suicide threats.

In one sentence we get told you will be going on out furloughs and that we need to be aware and supportive to those in need. Yes, that makes sense.......cut our hours and then tell us we will be needed more while we are out on a furlough day. A jump in possible suicides while no one is there to help? We are in for a bumpy ride. I refuse to give up my phone. I won't. Someone has to be there. Just one person.

The career politician should never have been allowed. They are more hurtful than helpful.

Today, my oldest son starts his hike of 14,505 feet to the top of Mt. Whitney. It is the highest summit in California. Once he reaches the top, he will camp there for 2 days and then begin his descent down the other side. He will be out in the wilderness for over 10 days. Last year, during winter, he made the trek with his girl friend. This time he wanted to go alone. Alone or with another, I will always worry. He has all of the necessary survival gear, but it is his curiosity that worries me. Both of my boys are like me. Yes, that is exactly why I am worried......lol. While some parents are telling their kids "Don't do that, you will get hurt" I was the Mom who said "Let's try it and see what happens" hahahaha.

I am comfortable knowing that he has knowledge and experience about first aid, dangerous plants, bears, cougars and snakes. He learned those at an early age when we would go camping in the wilderness every year in Nevada, Arizona or Montana. My worries are over his desires to go off the beaten path to see what else he can find. Hmmmmmm? Just like his Mom....lol

Although he is a smart young man and very responsible, you cannot predict what the elements will do. The worry began last night and will not end until I hear his voice "Ma, I am not dead" Which is exactly what he will probably say. Gee? Where did he get his sense of morbid humour?
