nah I didn't find NN I was here for many months before that and totaly hooked on the less than 50 new pics/day.
Five years ago today I did discover there was actually an option to become a member of NN. It only took me 25 days to figure that one out. It took me another 2 weeks or so to peel myself away from the pics and discover chat. I don't remember the exact date but it was early August 2003. I had no pics, didnt have a clue about digi cams and was really very new to the internet.
What I encountered were some fabulous people. If there were 8 people in the one and only chat room it was as busy as it is now with over 50 ppl. I am often asked about being the official greeter and all I have to say about that is I was welcomed with open arms and try to pass it along. The site has grown tremedously but there is still a wonderful core communtiy here.
Five years ago I met some people who affected me profoundly. There were a few that totally understood what I was going thru with the then recent diagnosis of my son. There were those who slowly but surely have become friends that I keep in touch with to this day. Some made me laugh, some made me think.
I have learned more about the human animal than I think anyone really needs to know. I have loved, laughed and cried here. I have learned alot about myself.
Keeping an open mind is the key to growth.

I have been in major thinking mode lately. Nothing of any particular interest really. However if I ran the world I would make some major changes.
School in the fall is a go! I have the funding and I have a caregiver with many options to change if I am not happy. I am thrilled!!! I feel like I have been given wings after being grounded for sooooooooooo long!!
I deal with things as they are dealt to me and sometimes you have a half decent hand, sometimes you have a really shitty hand but this time I feel like I have the winning hand.

is a go!! Things are so easy once you find the right person to talk to. One simple phone call to one woman and it was a done deal!
Now the tougher part begins. I have to find a caregiver I trust. I have a few ideas but am waiting for some feedback. I should hear from her tomorrow.

Today was dentist day part 2. I had them cleaned 2 weeks ago, today was molds and part 1 of fillings. I was so thrilled I walked out of there with 3 of the 5 cavities filled with no freezing! I don't mind getting the needles but I get really miserable as it wears off. Next week won't be so nice, the last 2 require some freezing However after 8 years of not being at the dentist I have done very well!!

I tend to take people at face value, yes even online. For the most part I haven't been disappointed. Every now and then someone will point out a few "oddities" that I hadn't noticed before which make me kind of supsicious. Well this time it didn't take someone to point things out to me it was little things I have observed over time that just haven't added up. There has been no harm what so ever done, I have always liked this person and still do. I just find it sad that they felt the need to portray themselves as something they aren't. Perhaps in an effort to make friends? It makes me feel a lil down but no biggie.

Kid 2 was gone for the aft and night last night, there was a possibility of him staying again but I just got a call from him. He is coming home. I think he would have been ok for 2 nights if his sister was with him but am betting he is tired and looking forward to his own space.
It is always nice to have a break but I miss the kids like mad when they aren't here.

I am getting thru the lazy hazy days of summer but am also looking forward to being more produtive in Sept. I am getting closer to getting the funding I need to go back to school for some upgrading in the fall.

We all suffer from it. New situations, locations, people. It is never easy to settle into a new situation.
I am feeling especially sorry for the critters we are babysitting for the next 2 weeks, they just don't understand where their ppl have gone!

And took a drive out to the farm, I was hoping to get some strawberries but I was too late. What I did get was some fresh cinnamon buns mmmmmmmm, some sweet corn and some green and yellow beans. I haven't had dilled beans in years and decided to attempt to make some.



I will admit to cheating a bit because while there I found a kit to make them and since I don't have a canner they are fridge pickles. I am really hoping they turn out the way I remember because they were sooooo good. I will be able to try them in 3 weeks.
