I won Mumford and Son's newest album!!! A radio station DJ posted on FaceBook yesterday that the first 20 ppl to e-mail him with "Mumford" in the subject, would win a free digital download of the entire album. I happened to see it as SOON as he posted it. So I emailed. Didn't hear anything back, so I figured I'd lost...again. It's rare when I win anything. So this morning, when I check my e-mail, and see a RE: from the DJ. I FUCKIN WON! I had to wait till I got to the bike shop and my laptop to download it, But I'm 3 songs deep and it's fantastic!

One of my co-workers has a daughter with mild-moderate retardation. She's been working in the bakery for a few months, doing dishes, cleaning, etc. Well, she LOVES hanging out in cake world, and does after she's clocked out and waiting for her mom to get done. Always watching, always asking questions. Last week, it was slow, and she asked if she could decorate a cake. I shrugged and figured, why not? I gave her a cake form (styrofoam block the same size as a 1/4 sheet cake)and said have at it! .... Ya'll... I've never in my life seen someone with absolutely NO training or experience turn out a cake like this. Her icing was perfect, better than most "decorators" who come in tor an interview. Her roses? Immaculate, as good as any I've made. Her writing isn't the worst I've seen, but it's not the best. Still, she's had NO TRAINING. And she's got a great imagination, very creative with her color combinations and design. So I took the cake to the boss ladies, and asked (begged) that she be allowed to come and work with us a few days a week. She's got too much natural talent to let it go to waste. This is a skill she can take anywhere in the world, and make a living with. She worked with us today, and I literally only had to show her one time how to do something, and she did it. Between the three of us (decorators) we'll all work with her to show her our individual talents, and if I'm right, she'll wind up better than all of us.

Making new friends (here or IRL) is always a good thing, and brightens my day. As well as being able to put a smile (or smirk) on someone's face puts me in SUCH a better mood!

I know it's only 3pm, but I'm hoping this great mood and fantastic day carries on through tonight and into tomorrow. =D
