so today, i did something i've never done before.

i spent almost 10 hours....on ONE cake. it's a grooms cake for delivery tomorrow. the groom, from mexico, wanted a cooler...filled with 7 different mexican beer bottles. but...yet another casualty of the explosion of all those cake shows...

he wants it all edible.

i spent two hours last tuesday, making rice krispie treats, and shaping them into bottles. i leave them set out for two days, come in today and try to cover them with fondant. no go. the RCT's aren't the least bit hard. the fondant just makes the bottle necks bend.. gahhhhhhhh...

me n K put our heads together.. i try to think of every cake show i've ever watched...and come up with...MODELING CHOCOLATE!! that'll do it!! soft enough to mold, yet hardens enough to cover with fondant! sweet... off to wal-mart we head, to get the ingredients..

instead of the modeling chocolate, we decide this candy base would be better...now....what to use for a candy mold?!? more gah!! me n k literally walk around walmart for an hour n a half.. then SHE get's the lightbulb. some plastic bottle invitations she almost bought for her daughters last b-day. off to the party store..

anyway... many hours later...i've done it... this cake looks so completely bad ass.. i found rock candy (basicly crystallized sugar that looks like ice, and sprinkled that around the top, in white and blue.. no, seriously...i wish ya'll could see this cake in person.. 100% edible.. AND i didn't get any pics of the lemon slices we're gonna put into the ice.. **sigh** 10+ hours...and i'm SO proud of this stupid thing!!

in shop news...had our new building sign put up today, and it's a thing of beauty...



i got to flex my operations manager muscles today, seeing as how the shipping company the parts company used...only delivered ONE crate, rather than the two that were on the invoice. called the parts company, and got them on the ball. we'll either have the original crate here by tomorrow, or a brand new one sent (free of charge) by friday.

got home from work and rayce was running around chewing on...something blue??? i don't remember him having a blue toy..so i take it from him and inspect it.

...

FFS! it's a disposable razor. and yes...it's missing the gawddamn RAZOR BLADES... i search the room, and find several small bits of plastic...but no razor blades.

*sigh* here i am on puppy poo/health watch...wish us luck...

with the head decorator dying.. we're short. ma girl K and me are gonna try to tackle this cooler cake we have for friday delivery. it's 7 bottles of mexican beer in a cooler. i'll make the rice krispie treats tonight, wrap em up good, then me and her will work on shaping/covering them with fondant tuesday night.

i'm sposta be off tue/wed, but gonna be at the shop till 6pm tuesday, then go to the bakery for a few hours. and wed we have a minor league baseball game to take the old people to. it was a father's day prezzie for pop. as long as they have beer, i'll be ok.

as for the previous blog? just frustrated by the old people. they have a VERY bad habit of taking ma bathroom book...OUT of the bathroom. so i go in, sit down n get all comfy..and....NO book! gah...

and i have this bag in the freezer. that the old woman has been told SEVERAL times...do NOT open it. i keep it full of chocolates and candy n such...for the rare times i get a sweet tooth. got one of those urges last night..go to my stash, open it up...and out of 4 BAGS of easter candy...there's...literally 4 pieces left. sooooooooooooo pissed off. gah...drives me crazy.

ya know...i should wait till mornin before i blog this....

drama drama drama....

the newest head decorator, was the one who was in charge when i first started over a year ago.. the one who went on a crack binge and was fired...is gone.

N...well...she's dead. she died of what is assumed as an overdose.

there's alot of runny eyes, and heartfelt sniffles going around the bakery. but...really? i find this so contrite and.... fake, really. the same people who were up in arms at N coming back.....are the first ones to call in/leave early because they're so...distraught.

Yes, i have a heart. Yes i feel for her family. Yes...i'm shocked she's gone...but...maybe i'm a cold heartless bitch.

because, Yes, business goes on. there's cakes to go out, and i can't let some sadness get in the way of that. i sent home 3 girls...2 on the counter, and one cake decorator, because they were crying.

and after i did all that...i was wondering...do i have a heart? i mean...those girls were so affected by the passing of someone...they'd not really worked with. yet, i worked very closely with her...and, not that i feel NOTHING, i can still preform my job, without tears in my eyes or sniffles...

maybe i don't have a heart.

i know the logo's stretched, but that's the stupid website's fault. it wants the image 200x500...which automatically stretches it.

and it's by no means done, there's still the online store to set up, and silly things like the counter and blah blah blah.


all in all...i'm rather pleased with myself.

so today...i actually try. and after a few excedrin's, couple of cups of coffee, one tense moment where i snapped at dummy, a complete mental breakdown involving tears and kicking my solid steel desk, and 1/2 pack of ciggys smoked. i have 3 pages that are passably designed.

i go to publish it, with a sigh of relief and a lot of cussing..annnnnnnnnnnd....

godaddy's got some sort of system bug atm. 30 minutes on the phone with tech support, and i'm told..we're working on it, give us a few days. *starts to tear up again*
