It's been a long time coming but I thought it was about time to overhaul my profile. Although I'm far from a prolific poster I've come to the realisation that a complete and up-to-date blurb is at the very least some form of contribution. Anyway, I've been on NN for some time, 3 years according to my profile. If asked to describe my experience on the site I'd respond with a quick 'addictive'. Admit it. You've been there (and most likely still are. 'Err, just checking my emails.' 3 hours later… Anyway, addictive or not, I really enjoy the site and the people on it. In terms of who I am, I'll start with the essentials. I'm gainfully employed, I pay taxes (albeit, begrudgingly on some occasions) and my family and relationships (friends, colleagues, people in general) came first. Second is having a good time which I fine easy when you're hanging out with people you enjoy. I enjoy all the normal things. Food, great movies, traveling, etc. Although I'm highly driven in all areas of my life I don't consider or want to be the next modern day deity. I'm happy living my own version of of a good life. Simple as that. So that was a babbling description of little old me. To bring things back into THIS context, aside from the never ending worm-holing through the site on the lookout for whatever suits my particular mood (others may substitute 'mood' for 'perversion', whatever) I've met and chatted to a beguiling range of great individuals and couples. I've had nothing but positive experiences and hope for the same in the future. As for what I'm all about sexually, and to add a little ambiguity, I guess you could say that I enjoy and have enjoyed more-or-less anything. I've been with woman of all ages, shapes and sizes. I wouldn't say my 'preferences' are in any way out-of-the-ordinary. Now on to what I'm 'looking for'. (I'll apologise in advance if that sounds like we're on a dating site.) I'd like to connect with, chat and if circumstances and personalities allow, well, whatever. Yikes, this is turning into a essay of ambiguity so I might wrap it up. I'll leave you with this. I'm not looking to mess people around or play games. I'm polite, I'm in good shape and I'm not looking to place expectations on anyone. That's that :)

I got thinking - at length actually - about a topic I consider somewhat less mundane than my last post. The place, whilst on a run. The topic, threesomes. I wasn't pondering a particular combination, mostly the general idea of having sex with more than one person at a time. That sets the scene.

From what I can tell you love or hate the idea, and fair enough. I've never been one to yearn in a grunting, beer swilling fashion for such activities, but have participated in several MMF threesomes, albeit a few years ago. Each was memorable in it's own way and I enjoyed every encounter.

At the time it was the pull of the experience and it's novelty. Maybe my age (that of a mid twenties male) was a large part of my mindset? In the years since my view has changed somewhat. I'm not engaged in the fantasy of similar adventures for the same reasons. Now, I look at the potential for another threesome as way of connecting with a couple on more of a personal level, far beyond the 'well, that was fun' and never see each other again experiences of few years back.

What am I trying to say?

Things change. In the case to a more considered and positive approach found with age and a great deal of thought. This is a good change and one which, eventually, will yield far better relationships and experiences.

Didn't write over the weekend. For me a weekend is about chill'n, not for computering. There's little to report. With this in mind I thought I'd share a fun fact about weekends. I'll preface this by admitting this fact is not mine. Someone much more talented in the field of human analysis than I came up with it. Oh, and please assume I'm speaking generally.

Turns out when you ask someone how their weekend was you'll more than likely get a positive followed by a negative, or vice versa. For example, 'Saturday was fantastic, but my dog died on Sunday.' Okay, perhaps that's a little extreme but you get the idea.

I'd have thought the day might play a role in how positive/negative people felt but this, I'm told, isn't a factor with enough of an affect to bother exploring.

Just a little something to think about on this lovely Monday morning.

I had dinner with a bunch of people last night. A moment of note was a lengthy conversation about the male predilection to make snap judgements about whether they'd sleep with someone (often refereed to as 'screw', 'f**k', and so on). It's no secret that most men, if 'free & easy', will jump on just about anything they find mildly attractive. This includes some woman you see crossing the road, the flight attendant on some horrendous commuter flight or the mother standing in line with you at the supermarket. This isn't a trait I'm proud of, but it's a trait all the same.

The discussion was less about the morality of the male tendency towards horniness (I mean, what are you going to do, right?) and more about the claims of woman in the group that they 'never' or 'rarely' see a man they'd like to 'jump'. How could the gulf between men/woman be so huge in this respect?

Without sounding like some try hard SNAG, I have little interest in sleeping with random woman - this is likely due to age or a deep desire to not be a typical male. I admit that I often see a woman and think 'yup' but there's little chance I'd actually anything if given the chance.

What am I saying? I'll NEVER be given the chance. I've never been one to ask a woman, well, anything. I generally go for the inane chatter angle which sees me endearing myself to her friends or mother, but labeled as a 'nice guy' by the object of my desire. Sigh. 'Nice guy' - Shoot me.

What was this post actually about? Not sure. I apologise for the waffle and am now getting back to work.

I live in Australia, it's a great place. The weather is great, people are nice and aside from every living thing wanting to kill you, I might call this country the finest place I've ever lived.

You'll have seen on the Discovery Channel that snakes, frogs, sharks and hill billies are all features of Australia. They, and many other things, help make this country great. That said, there are things I'm not so enamoured with. Take magpies for example. Don't know what they are? Google it.

I was riding home a few days ago when some pissed off magpie decided I wasn't welcome in her park. It's breading session and I'm clearly a threat to her nest which is 17 meters above me. Hormones, I tell you. I hear 'CLAP, CLAP' That's the unmistakable sound of a snapping beak a few feet above you. 'Not good' I mumble. Next, 'CLACK' as the beaks smashes into your helmet. This continues until you're quivering in a pool of blood or have scuttled out of range (and most likely, bleeding). The attack was eventually thwarted by a low hanging branch and a moment of inattention from the bird (it was too busy trying to kill me). I ducked, the bird didn't. POW! I won the battle and have since changed the route to that part of town. I'll concede that I did not win the war?

Get this. The government suggests the following as magpie deterrents for cyclists:

1. Wear an ice cream container on your head - I like this one as it would suggest an ice cream container is better than a helmet for a) deterring Magpies b) preventing a head injury c) making you look like a dick. They'd be right about the last one.
2. Carry an umbrella at all times - I've never riden whilst holding an umbrella but expect it to add a new challenge to a bike ride.
3. Cycle above 50km/h for 2-3kms - This suggestion was clearly written by someone who drives to work, drives to the mall on Saturday and spends Sunday slugging beers while watching re-runs of the Golden Girls. Like, seriously, riding at that speed for any longer than 200m would see me mowing down kids and dogs while being chased by Lance Armstrong shouting 'come ride with me!'

Here's the final price of retardation as relates to predatory Australian birds. Magpies have a similar level of protection as whales. I'm not interested in ridding the world of these flying sacks of humiliation, but at least give me a chance!

I woke this morning feeling heavy, mind and body. I wasn't hung over, grumpy or feeling negative, just a little slower than usual. (Oh God, I'm getting old.) In an attempt to nudge myself into a lighter space I journeyed into town and hooked up with Dee-Zee (old friend and confidant). Two hours later, no weight.

What is it about a friend (who I don't see often) which gives you the perspective to bring order to what seems scrambled? [Pause] Actually, I'm not sure it's a topic in need of analysing.

There are times where you use time to DO things. Other times you use time to EXPERIENCE things. Today's coffee was a rare and powerful experience and my life is a little better because of it.

My advise. Call a friend and ask them how they are. It's good for the soul.

I've wanted to write a blog for some time. I'd like to explain why but to date it's a little hazy. I don't expect people will read my directionless ramblings and mistake me for some inspirational character like Forest Gump, but I'm sure I have a few useful things to say. We'll see...

The past few months have seen a few changes. Nothing monumental, but a few key things have fallen into place to allow me to spend more time attending to the people and activities I find interesting and which give me purpose. One activity is an unofficial diary, seen only on NN.

This is the first day of my new life and I woke up to clouds, rain, a few emails (one from my mother which always brings a smile to my face) and an empty NN inbox. As a 'single' guy. Then again, that's not out of the ordinary. A few hours later I have Rufus Wainwright singing me a tune and one HELL of a paper cut.

On the plus side I don;t have my old boss chewing my ass out for something that doesn't matter. Oh, and it's sunny. I'm off to hang the laundry.
