I have always given my kids a fair amount of freedom. This week was March break, aka spring break to those of you south of the border. My daughter took off Wed night for a wake over with one friend, she was home for only a few hrs before she was invited to another friends. Last night she called me asking if she could stay over again, I said yes.
This afternoon I got a call from her and in a little voice she said
"Do you want me to come home now?"
I replied that she could stay if she wanted to but that it would be nice if I did see her before dinner this evening.
In a whisper she said
"now?"
I clued in right away and said
"I want you home right now you have been away long enough"
With a smile in her voice she said
"I will be home soon"
She had had enough and was looking for an out.
Sometimes you have to take the leash off and let them make their own decisions.
I have just made her a grilled cheese cause she was sick of eating junk for the past few days.

My soapbox gets a regular workout and I really don't mind you using it, however it has recently been refurbished and I would appreciate if it was returned in the same condition it was borrowed in.
Feel free to take photos while you are on it but return it in a timely manner it is in high demand.

on the blog issue. I have decided I really don't like it. To me the new page depersonalizes the blogs, it feels like a bunch of headlines with no real substance. I will use the browse blog feature because for me clicking on the name is like opening a door and walking into a house, each with its own distinct personality.
That being said, at least the blogs have gotten some long over due attention from the powers that be, I am hopeful some much needed upgrades to blogs will take place (PAGES, hint hint!) It really would be nice if some of the longer blogs (like mine) didn't take so damn long to load.

cruising through the blogs and chatting in the kitchen when all the sudden this cool new features pops up showing me the latest 50 blogs. It took me a min to figure out how I got there LOL.

but it sure as hell felt like it today. It got up to 15c (do your own conversion if you only know F) Much of the snow that was on the ground has melted, really all that is left is some snow in the shady areas and of course the filthy looking snow banks. My back yard is a total mud pit but damn it was nice to sit on the step after dinner having a beer and chatting with a neighbour (who happened to see a robin today)
Still not ruling out another big snow storm but starting to see the light at the end of the long tunnel we call winter,

By request of the chat room

6 med potatoes peeled and grated
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 grated onions
2 eggs
1/2c flour
1 tsp salt
dash blk pepper
oil for deep frying
Sprinkle grated potaoes with baking soda. Spoon out excess liquid.
Mix remaining ingredients, except the oil, in the order given.
Heat oil in a large skillet and drop batter by spoonfulls to form potato cakes about 4" in diameter. when crisp on both sides, remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve with apple sauce or sour cream.

These also freeze and reheat well if you make too many.

My favourite show sucked ass tonight!! It was the season finale of Corner Gas and it sucked!!!!
Yeah they had me wondering what was going on with the previews, there was NO way Brent could sell the station! Lacey leaving, yeah that was plausable.
I was so pissed that they resorted to the standard cliff hangerish stuff of American television!!!
Rant over, if you ever get a chance to see Corner Gas it really is Canadian humour at its best.

Whether you want to call it prayer, good vibes or whatever, I am not a prayer person for many reasons but I do very much believe in "good vibes"
I have seen the impact these positive thoughts have had here and am still in awe of them.
I am positive the hearfelt prayers, good vibes, positive thoughts we have sent to so many really do make a difference.
The power of love is an amazing and wonderful thing to behold.
