Friday, January 12, 2007, 11:29:23 PM- Blonde? Dizzy?
Ok, first thing is first....we're both doing much better. I have no more muscle issues and Wolf is almost done his antibiotics and stopped listing to port side. Now for the other question...am I just blonde, dizzy, ditzy or what? My niece just brought up the fact that her mom, my SISTER, was turning 60 this month. After 39 years of saying "my oldest sister is somewhere in her "whatever" years, I just realized she is exactly 20 years older than me. Hello? I know I was born a blonde and I did a lot of drugs as a young 'un but geez.... wondering how deep her blonde roots go kitt xxx

Friday, January 5, 2007, 11:52:13 PM- Part of the house is better
Ok...I feel a bit better. I just have to be careful not to move too quickly (at least while twisting) but the pain has subsided to a dull ache. My back is killing me now but I'm used to that so I can ignore it for the most part. Wolf, on the other hand, is not feeling well. He called me at work yesterday to say he came home early because he was dizzy and that in turn was turning his stomach. He was pretty out of it most of the night and ended up staying home today. Turns out he had an ear infection. He was listing to port side so I drove him to a clinic to have it checked out. He'll be on antibiotics for a while now. I told him to stay out of the sun and watch out for vaginal yeast infections. I think he'll do ok considering it's raining and he's lacking an essential body part for the second condition. On another note, leaving work early made for getting a few things done more easily. I only have two loads of laundry left and the grocery shopping is finished. Which means I may actually get to watch the football game this weekend. Whoo hoo. feeling more normal kitt xxxx

Thursday, January 4, 2007, 12:02:59 AM- Oww, fucking oww
I think I need to go recuperate with Body...ok, maybe not with him (I don't think that would work or go over well with our spouses) but anyway.... I think I pulled a muscle in my side. Holy crap. It's like someone keeps sticking a knife in my side and twisting it. Fear not campers, it's not my right side so it's not the appendix. In trying to figure out what the heck I did, the nearest I can figure is that it occured Monday sometime while we were taking the tree down and putting all the decorations away. I had to have either picked up something in an incorrect way or I just twisted wrong. So yesterday my side started hurting and today it's just torture. It's moving too ... now my hip is starting to be sore. Crap. I tried a couple of beers but that's not working. Wolf suggested an oxycontin but somehow I don't think mixing that with the beers I just downed would be a good idea. If I don't move much and I don't breathe deeply I'm ok. I have to agree with Body though...this taking it easy crap is a killer. I guess I better learn to take my own advice and listen to my body. going to sit on the couch and breathe slowly kitt xxxx

Wednesday, January 3, 2007, 12:44:34 AM- The Wolf and the Moon
I was thinking of the full moon today and coincidentally there was an article on it on Yahoo News. Interestingly enough, the full moon occuring tomorrow is a Full Wolf Moon, which makes me think of my husband of course, and, I've been thinking of Lunna, the moon child. Here's a list of the full moons. The full moons take their names from Native Americans. The names helped keep track of the seasons. Note that the U.S. will be seeing 2 lunar eclipses this year, one in March and another in August. Jan. 3, 8:57 a.m. EST - The Full Wolf Moon. Amid the zero cold and deep snows of midwinter, the wolf packs howled hungrily outside Indian villages. It was also known as the Old Moon or the "Moon After Yule." In some tribes this was the Full Snow Moon; most applied that name to the next Moon. Feb. 2, 12:45 a.m. EST - The Full Snow Moon. Usually the heaviest snows fall in this month. Hunting becomes very difficult, and hence to some tribes this was the Full Hunger Moon. March 3, 6:17 p.m. EST - The Full Worm Moon. In this month the ground softens and the earthworm casts reappear, inviting the return of the robins. The more northern tribes knew this as the Full Crow Moon, when the cawing of crows signals the end of winter, or the Full Crust Moon because the snow cover becomes crusted from thawing by day and freezing at night. The Full Sap Moon, marking the time of tapping maple trees, is another variation. A total lunar eclipse will take place on this night; the Moon will appear to rise will totally immersed (or nearly so) in the Earth's shadow over the eastern United States. The rising Moon will be emerging from the shadow over the central United States, while over the Western U.S. the eclipse will be all but over by the time the Moon rises. April 2, 1:15 p.m. EDT - The Full Pink Moon. The grass pink or wild ground phlox is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names were the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and -- among coastal tribes -- the Full Fish Moon, when the shad came upstream to spawn. This is also the Paschal Full Moon; the first full Moon of the spring season. The first Sunday following the Paschal Moon is Easter Sunday, which indeed will be observed six days later on Sunday, April 8. May 2, 6:09 a.m. EDT - The Full Flower Moon. Flowers are abundant everywhere. It was also known as the Full Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon. May 31, 9:04 p.m. EDT - The Blue Moon. The second full Moon occurring within a calendar month is usually bestowed this title. Although the name suggests that to have two Full Moons in a single month is a rather rare occurrence (happening "just once in a . . . ", it actually occurs once about every three years on average. June 30, 9:49 a.m. EDT - The Full Strawberry Moon. Known to every Algonquin tribe. Europeans called it the Rose Moon. July 29, 8:48 p.m. EDT - The Full Buck Moon, when the new antlers of buck deer push out from their foreheads in coatings of velvety fur. It was also often called the Full Thunder Moon, thunderstorms being now most frequent. Sometimes also called the Full Hay Moon. Aug. 28, 6:35 a.m. EDT - The Full Sturgeon Moon, when this large fish of the Great Lakes and other major bodies of water like Lake Champlain is most readily caught. A few tribes knew it as the Full Red Moon because the moon rises looking reddish through sultry haze, or the Green Corn Moon or Grain Moon. A total lunar eclipse will coincide with moonset for the eastern United States. The Central and Mountain Time Zones will see the Moon's emergence coincide with moonset, while the western United States will see the entire eclipse. Sept. 26, 3:45 p.m. EDT - The Full Harvest Moon. Always the full Moon occurring nearest to the Autumnal Equinox. Corn, pumpkins, squash, beans, and wild rice-- the chief Indian staples--are now ready for gathering. Oct. 26, 12:52 a.m. EDT - The Full Hunter's Moon. With the leaves falling and the deer fattened, it is time to hunt. Since the fields have been reaped, hunters can ride over the stubble, and can more easily see the fox, also other animals that have come out to glean and can be caught for a thanksgiving banquet after the harvest. The Moon will also be at perigee later this day, at 7:00 a.m., at a distance of 221,676 miles from Earth. Very high tides can be expected from the coincidence of perigee with full Moon. Nov. 24, 9:30 a.m. EST - The Full Beaver Moon. Time to set beaver traps before the swamps freeze to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Beaver Full Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now active in their preparation for winter. Also called the Frosty Moon. Dec. 23, 2:51 a.m. EST - The Full Cold Moon; among some tribes, the Full Long Nights Moon. In this month the winter cold fastens its grip, and the nights are at their longest and darkest. Also sometimes called the "Moon before Yule" (Yule is Christmas, and this time the Moon is only just before it). The term Long Night Moon is a doubly appropriate name because the midwinter night is indeed long and the Moon is above the horizon a long time. The midwinter full Moon takes a high trajectory across the sky because it is opposite to the low Sun. happy moon viewing kitt xxx

Friday, December 29, 2006, 12:11:37 AM- Chainsaws
We're in the market for a new chainsaw. Our old one is just not up the task of supplying us with wood for the winter and needs repair. Apparently, it has come down with a common ailment for its brand (doesn't oil the chain anymore)and the repair would be costly and basically a band-aid. So that leaves us with looking at models more suited to our level of usage. Wolf seems to have set his sights on the Husqvarna Rancher 455. It's more than I paid for our current model but better suited to our needs and a better deal in the long run. We received a $100 gift certificate for Lowe's from my cousins and we originally thought that if they carried it we would make out better but we were wrong. We found this web site that carries them and has a deal going on with two free chains and free shipping. Even after the gift certificate, we would only be saving $58. That doesn't count the cost of the extra chains, gas and aggravation (and the free t-shirt and hat). We've decided to save the Lowe's certificate for the washer to fix the drip on the sink. We figure by the time Wolf finishes putting in a new washer to repair the sink we'll have used the whole $100. I see all new fixtures in our future...just a feeling mind you. He's never claimed to be a plumber he says... weighing the options kitt xxx

Wednesday, December 27, 2006, 11:34:49 PM- And the holidays go on.
Well, the Saturday Christmas celebration was a great success. Everyone left happy and stuffed. We missed a couple of my sisters due to winter flus and the such but their gifts were sent back to their respective homes and the rest of said a prayer of thanks that they didn't feel the need to share their illnesses with us. We missed Wolf's family but we talked to them several times over the phone and they were in our thoughts all the time. The major highlights of the gift giving appeared to be food items. My son freaked over the fact that I gave him his own box full of honey buns, nutty bars, easy mac and cup of soup. Wolf, likewise, danced all over when he found a can of Spam in his stocking, not to mention cream style corn. Blech. As for me, I seem to have gotten a year's supply of candles from everyone, a brand new totally amazing bible from my mother-in-law and an absolutely dazzling anklet from my wolf. It's so dainty I'm almost afraid to wear it. I'm not exactly what you would call dainty ... I'm actually kind of tough on jewelry. I have some rings that look like they were mashed through a grinder. I'll have to save this piece for special occasions. We're not quite over our galas though. We have another one coming up this Saturday at my cousin's house. It'll be crowded, noisy and a boatload of fun. There will be more food than everyone can possibly stuff into themselves and lots of good cheer and plenty of dirty banter (my family has a tendency to talk a bit to the left if you know what I mean - nner's would fit right in, might even be shocked at times). Wolf will be occupied by the older ladies who are enamoured of his accent and think he's just the most darlin' thing. And the really cool thing is that it hasn't snowed yet...ha-ha Body enjoying the holidays kitt xxxx

Saturday, December 23, 2006, 2:37:57 AM- Prepping and ready...
Well, the meat and bread stuffings have been made and approved by Mom. The rum cake is marinating . The turkey is is in the oven. The ham is defrosting. All the veggies and salad and trimmings are in the refrigerator. The tree is lit, presents wrapped, the floors washed, the bathroom cleaned, etc. I talked to one of my sisters and the other one won't be making it. Her significant other has some health issues that she would rather not share with the extended family. My thoughts will be with her and her other and I'll send her gifts back. My cousin, on the other hand, is here before going back to Arizona so I've made sure he and his wife will be coming. My other cousin will be bringing her husband who resides in a nursing home so that will be a treat for him and us as I don't see him often now. Wolf is gearing up for tomorrow's final rush through the house and the moving of furniture to accomodate the extra table and the influx of guests. He's also gearing up for me tonight.... It's chaos but enjoyable. I hope you all get to enjoy the holidays in your own crazy and happy manner. love ya all... merry christmas kitt xxx

Tuesday, December 19, 2006, 11:17:01 PM- He's so sweet
My loving husband surprised me the other day at work and sent me a dozen beautiful yellow roses. My favorites. All the ladies were jealous of course and several requested he speak to their significant others. He's a quiet man but when he says something it really speaks volumes. Well, I'm on the run again, preparing for the upcoming weekend. Hopefully I can chase off this sore throat I've been battling with. The last thing I need is for it to hit over the weekend. I'm picking up mom on Friday and she'll help out by supervising while I'm cooking. If nothing else she's a great taste tester. I can't taste things until their over seasoned because of my sinuses. Have fun y'all kittxxx

Friday, December 15, 2006, 1:26:52 AM- Whoosh....
Wow, aren't the days just flying by? I can't believe that we're only about a week away from Christmas. This weekend we have a friend's party to go to and the big bake sale. Next weekend my family comes here for our celebration. So pretty much all of next week will be filled with grocery shopping and cooking in preparation for Saturday (yes, we do it early because everyone has to travel in from other places). Thankfully I'm done with shopping. I even was able to meet Santa to pick up Wolf's gifts and get them wrapped this morning. I imagine I'll have comments here and there but if I don't get to do so, hope everyone has a Merry Christmas! If you celebrate something else a happy one of those too but you're quite welcome to join in mine as well filled with spirit kitt xxx

Monday, December 11, 2006, 11:22:48 PM- Christmas Cookies
I have a bake sale coming up this weekend. I wanted to try to make these very cool looking cookies that I saw in a magazine. So, I tell Wolf..."look at these, they have to be real easy to make huh. Seems like a piece of cake but I don't feel like making the dough, let's just get sugar cookie dough that's already made...you know, like Pillsbury." Friday night we both come home with cookie dough and Jolly Rancher candies. The theory is that you crush the candies then you cut holes in the cookies, spoon in some crushed candy and bake them. They should come out looking like glass. That's the theory anyway. The first attempt has Wolf bashing the crap out of a plastic bag of candy. Thankfully I told him to wrap it in a towel first. Much candy on the towel, lots of holes in the bag, the candy does NOT come off the towel, big mess...candy dust everywhere. We try to work with this cookie dough and it's not easy. Very sticky stuff, we can't find decent sized cookie cutters in my arsenal of baking stuff, I'm cutting the things with a knife...more mess. We cook these. They come out in these horrible blob shapes with very chewy misshapen centers. The dog liked them. We tried again using a slightly different technique...nah. I broke down and made the cookie dough. Just prior to making it I realized I had no kosher salt. Off Wolf goes to the store to get kosher salt. This cookie dough is actually easy to make and even easier to work with. We create the cookies with the holes and spoon in the crushed candy. The first batch shows us that a little candy goes a LONG way and we should not bake them on the bottom rack. The pig will be happy. The final batch came out pretty decent. I think we're good to go. I brought a few into work and the new guy braved the first one, my manager ate one of the others and was thrilled to death. I think he's thinking of selling them on e-bay. (this is a man who went to take a shower one morning and the curtain was missing because his wife sold it)That's key...always test the new stuff on other people. still cleaning up candy dust kitt xxx
