As tiresome as it was making all those calls yesterday, there was a certain amount of joy to be found as well. I was blessed to speak with an amazing number of kind people who sounded more than happy to call if the silver bar came thru their doors. They don't want to purchase stolen items any more than we would. We are not asking for more than a simple phone call to alert us that the bar is still in the area. As most coin/pawn/jewelry stores have cameras, there will be video. This is sufficient. I don't want to involve anyone in something they are best to avoid.

Many of the people had their own stories to share, advice to give, suggestions to make. It was heartwarming and extraordinarily informative. There are a lot of folks with integrity out there. It's easy to forget that and a lesson I need to retain.

5 hours and calls to 18 coin shops, 62 pawn shops and 23 jewelry shops are done. ugh! I've gotten the word out as best I can leaving contact info and the serial number of the bar.

The Postal Inspector General is being very cooperative, as is the local Postmaster and the buyer. If reports are accurate, the source of the problem has been isolated and the guilty party should soon be identified. *fingers crossed*

Edit: From what we're being told the sorting facility is under observation. The destination post office received another parcel in the same condition going to the same buyer from another seller. The destination post office set the wheels in motion of their own volition.

Follow up on the stolen silver.

After looking over the buyer's reviews, we noted many MANY reports and feedback of shipments never arriving, arriving damaged, etc. This raises a huge red flag for us. Poohbare plans to contact other ebay sellers who have dealt with the buyer and see what they have to say about the various transactions.

We'll bide our time, collect as much info as we can, and take it from there.

I'm utterly furious! We shipped out several 100 troy oz. silver bars the other day to buyers. When one package arrived at its destination, the shipping box was inside a plastic bag and the contents of the box was missing.

We've contacted the Post Office and the FBI as well as putting the word out to coin dealers in the areas where the tracking info shows the package was processed at various facilities. Fingers crossed it shows up. Fortunately, the bar has a serial number stamped on it and we have photos, so it's easily identifiable.

Poohbare is on the phone with the buyer right now who is being extremely cooperative. When the post office returns the damaged package to us, we'll take it to the authorities to run fingerprints. God help whoever did this if Poohbare discovers their identity. I certainly wouldn't want to be in their shoes.

I've often said "no good deed goes unpunished" yet am continually amazed how frequently that point is proven.

Anyway... moving on... the Spawn went back to school today and was not terribly thrilled about catching the bus at 6:30 a.m. Who would be? We spent yesterday bumming around, stopping at a pet store to play with a puppy and a kitten and picking up supplies for our pets, went out to lunch, did some necessary shopping... basically just hanging out together. It was a good day. She and I seem to have found some balance in our relationship and I'm diggin it.
